Alpha Omicron Pi Digital History

The first chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi’s history began in 1897 at Barnard College in New York City. Barnard was the first college in New York, and one of the first in the nation, where women could receive the same rigorous and challenging education that was available to men. For nearly 125 years, Alpha Omicron Pi has preserved a wealth of historical materials, including member photographs, letters, meeting notes, scrapbooks, jewelry, and more. In commemoration of AOIIs upcoming 125th anniversary, some of these artifacts are also being preserved digitally and made available on this dynamic site in order to share the Fraternity’s history with current and future generations.
