In 1979, the Fraternity created a new award in honor of Past International President Adele K. Hinton, Rho (Northwestern University). It honors an alumna member who exemplifies the ideals of AOII and inspires others to remain involved. The first recipient was Phyllis Arner Westerman, Rho (Northwestern University).
